Christmas with Etsy

Christmas is time when it is easy to get caught up in all the advertising and if you have kids then there is a lot of pressure to get the same as the others. Well, I have found a solution to this problem. Etsy.

Etsy is an amazing place to get really unique gifts. Whatever you are looking for, Etsy in an inspiration. On my last visit (all of an hour ago) – I wrote a provisional Christmas list for the kids and their cousins – it was full of much more imaginative gifts than they got a few years back!

I was initially a little worried about giving my kids gifts which were completely different to the ones that their school friends would get; but it was a great success. I am a big believer in quality of quantity and thankfully, my children now love to have something which is a little different from all the other kids in school. My husband is a photographer and graphic designer, and he does great kids pictures, so I put these on T-shirts and my boys love having wearing them to school. It is a wonderful solution to the expensive brand names which can dominate at school.

Make Some Money Yourself
One of the great things about Etsy is that it is not big corporations who are selling through this website, these are real cottage industries. This site is full of people making money out of what they enjoy doing best and what they are good at. We all have a talent, and if you are one of the many people who has made things before which have wowed people – then now is the perfect time for your to set up an Etsy shop.

The Etsy shop setup is a simple and straightforward process. If you have everthing ready you can be up and running in under an hour. There are a few things to note, for example you need to have a photograph of your sale items before you complete the item listing. Obviously, you will want to have a photo – but I had thought that I would put in a couple, then take my photos and add all the photos at the same time and do it that way around – but that didn’t work! Take the photos first, then add each one to the item as you list it.

There is a small charge for listing an item, but it is only $0.20 and unlike Ebay, it is not an auction system, so you don’t have to worry about only getting a $1 for the product!
